Who can participate?
Any Indian can participate in this contest however we are not encouraging professional photographers who are well established as the main aim of the contest is to encourage new and budding photographers. Photomania is to act as platform for them to show their skills.

When will the second round/selected participants be announced?
The participants who are selected for the second round will be announced on August 11th 2013.


When will the winners announced?
The winners of the finalists will be announced on our web site on August 19th 2013 (World Photography Day)

What are the prizes?
 First Prize: Rs.4000
 Second Prize Rs.3000
 Third Prize Rs.2000
 Audience Prize Rs.1000

What is the Audience Choice winner?

We will post the participants' photo in our facebook page and the photo with the maximum likes will be selected as the winner. In case of a tie, the photo which was uploaded earlier will get the priority. The deadline for clicking on the “Like” button is August 18th 23:59 IST.


How many photos can I enter into the contest?

Each participant can enter only one photograph.



How do I submit my photograph?

You can send your photograph, or a high-quality scan of your photograph to photomania@gnanadeepamtrust.org


I am an Indian, but I live outside India. Can I participate?

Yes, but photographs must be uploaded on or before 23:59 IST August 10th, 2013. 


Can an old photo be entered?

The photographs that are used in any other contests/competitions are not eligible. Photographs that were uploaded to any website (Picasa, facebook, Google Plus, etc.) prior to this competition are not eligible. Photographs that were taken before January 1, 2011 are not eligible.


Can photographs be cropped?

Cropped photographs are eligible. However, edited photographs will be discarded.


Can photographs be manipulated or enhanced?

Only minor burning, dodging and/or color correction is acceptable, as is cropping. Any changes to the original photograph not itemized here are unacceptable and will render the Photograph ineligible for a prize.


Do you accept black-and-white photographs?

Yes. Also, color photographs changed to black and white are acceptable.


I entered my photo into another contest and won. Can I enter it into this contest?

Photographs that have won other contests, either online or in print, are not eligible for submission. We define winning as having won a grand prize and having won 1st, 2nd or 3rd place overall.


I entered my photo into another contest and lost. Can I enter it into this contest?

Photographs that have participated in any other contest are not eligible for submission.

Is it OK to enter a photograph that has been on my website?

No, your photograph should not be present in facebook, flicker, picasa or any other websites earlier.


What rights to my photograph do I retain?

You retain your rights to your photograph; however, by entering the contest, entrants grant the Gnana Deepam Trust a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any educational, promotional, publicity, exhibition, archival, scholarly and all other standard Gnana Deepam Trust purposes. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. The Gnana Deepam Trust will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.
